We need you!
We are currently fundraising and we need your help to preserve our historic building.

Spurgeon's Chapel was built in 1863, so it's no wonder we need new windows!
Any donations will be greatly appreciated, however small.

Charles H. Spurgeon

Picture
The great Victorian ‘Prince of Preachers’, Charles Haddon Spurgeon.  Many who preach the Word of God today still reference and appreciate his powerful preaching ministry and the fruitful years spent at the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England.
In 1851 he began that great ministry as a very young a pastor of a small village church here in Waterbeach.  Every great venture of faith has to begin somewhere, so we are seeking to rekindle the passion and impact of Spurgeon’s ministry in our present-day community from that very same village church these 160 years later.
Spurgeon always had a fond love and appreciation for the place where his ministry began.  We still possess at Spurgeon’s Chapel, as our church building is known, and of which Spurgeon laid the foundation stone in 1863, his heartfelt sentiments in the form of personal messages in hymn books and a well–used leather-bound Pulpit Bible, signed prints of himself, communion silver, and handwritten sermon notes.  We believe Spurgeon’s Chapel is historically significant and stands to remind us of a time when God moved powerfully through the preaching of His Word in our nation.
Today we still preach the gospel with passion so that people might turn to the Lord Jesus for their eternal salvation.

We are blessed and encouraged to know that there are those who also stand on the Word of God to make Christ known throughout the world.

You can buy a detailed dramatised documentary about his fascinating life here.

We aren't that far away from the place where Spurgeon was baptised at the River Lark in Isleham.
Spurgeon Trail visitors are always very welcome to Spurgeon's Chapel!  However, to avoid disappointment, please give ample prior notice via telephone or email.

Just turn the Bible loose. It will defend itself.”
